On Monday, August 15, Xcel Energy filed a settlement agreement with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) that will impact how electricity is produced and paid for in Colorado. Our firm represented the Solar Energy Industries Association in the months of negotiations that lead to this agreement. In what the Denver Post referred to as a “big win” for the solar industry, the settlement will provide for more solar energy procurement, preservation of net metering, time-of-use rates, and low-income solar programs for Coloradans in Xcel’s service territory.
The next step involves seeking state regulators’ approval. Hearings are expected to be held in October 2016.
