Partners David Bannard and Eric Smith are panelists in a two-part webinar series hosted by the Airports Council International Finance Committee. The webinar titled, “COVID-19 Impact on Airport-Airline Business Relationship,” will take place Wednesday, December 1, 2021 and December 8, 2021.
The COVID-19 pandemic and related travel restrictions resulted in traffic declines exceeding 90%, a level that has not been experienced by airports and airlines. This has changed how airports and airlines view risks in their business relationship. For instance, although the federal COVID-19 relief grants have assisted the airports in maintaining their financial positions, many airports recognizes the importance of boosting their liquidity, even if they operate under residual agreements. The panelists will discuss lessons learned and new risk considerations: ratemaking methodologies and liquidity in the first session, and terminal capital expenditure, CIP, MII and gate control in the second session.
